A founding partner of Swartz Swidler, Richard Swartz is recognized as a leading employment law attorney in New Jersey. Richard has dedicated his career to fighting for the rights of workers who have suffered from discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and other violations of their rights. He has helped many clients to recover damages to pay for the losses that they have suffered and to hold their employers accountable for their wrongful actions.
Richard has been recognized by his peers in the legal community and the public for his work on behalf of his clients. Recently, Richard was named as one of the 2019 top attorneys by SJ Magazine in the areas of class actions and employment discrimination.
Richard graduated with his Bachelor of Arts from the Curtis Institute of Music, where he majored in French Horn. He then commenced his legal studies at the Temple University School of Law, from where he graduated in 1997 with his Juris Doctor. While he was in law school, Richard interned for the Honorable S. Gawthrop III, who was a district court judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Before co-founding Swartz Swidler, Richard gained experience in labor and employment law while working as an attorney at Ballard Spahr, Pepper Hamilton, and Blank Rome, which is a large firm. The experience he gained from his work there provided him with the knowledge that he needed to help his clients at Swartz Swidler and to be successful in his own practice.
Richard is admitted to practice law before all of the state courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He is also federally admitted to practice law before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Richard speaks conversational Spanish and enjoys speaking in Spanish with his Spanish-speaking clients to help him to get better at the language. He is dedicated to helping all of his clients to find justice and has amassed a record of success for them.
