On October 18, 2019, a former package handler for FedEx filed a class action lawsuit against FedEx, alleging that FedEx required her and hundreds of other hourly employees to undergo pre-shift and post-shift security screenings without pay. On July 10, 2020 the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey denied FedEx’s motion to dismiss the case, holding that under the New Jersey Wage and Hour Law,time spent undergoing mandatory pre-shift and post-shift security screenings may be compensable.
